If you’ve never heard of Soil & ‘Pimp’ Sessions, try and imagine what they sound like just from their name. Did you guess at “death jazz” (their term) made by a Japanese sextet? Of course you did. The group are well-known on the jazz scene in Tokyo, where they started out in 2001 before going global in 2004 with their critically acclaimed debut album, Pimpin’.
